The Amazing Spider-Man: REVIEWED

July 1, 2012

Was a Spidey reboot really worth the effort? Is it just too soon? Does the suit fit Andrew Garfield better than Tobey Maguire!? The Comic Cast answers all these questions and more in our epic review of The Amazing Spider-Man 3D which we saw this week. Also on this delicious bonus podcast we talk with cartoonist Paddy Lynch about Stray Lines – a comic book anthology featuring new work from Philip Barrett, Barry Hughes, Gus Hughes, Chris Judge & Andrew Judge as well as Lynch himself and how you can help fund the project and get killer rewards on Fund it. Enjoy.

Where’s Larry? An interview with Philip Barrett

June 26, 2012

This week, as you can see from the photographic evidence above, we’ve been cohorting with Larry the Leprechaun! And while helping Larry move his crock of gold we found cartoonist Philip Barrett at the end of the rainbow! So we thought we’d interview him about his new book Where’s Larry? from O’Brien Press in which Larry travels around Ireland hiding in some of Ireland’s most beautiful spots such as the Giant’s Causeway and Galway Bay. Phil tells us the ins and outs of illustrating such a detailed book, his upcoming small press comics and he reveals just who was the inspiration for Larry’s smile!

What ever happened to the Comic Cast?

July 26, 2009

magneto

So the Comic Cast is one year older but are we any wiser? Probably not, but with continued access to a microphone in a remote location in Kildare this week we review Nicholas Gurewitch’s The Perry Bible Fellowship Almanack, Neil Gaiman’s Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader? Alan Moore’s Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? Mark Schultz’s Superman and Batman vs. Aliens and Predator, Peter Milligan’s Sub-Mariner: The Depths and Greg Pak’s Magneto: Testament. Not to mention a quartet of new Irish comics including Ronan Kennedy’s What is it? David Withers’ Chaingun Chimp #1, Daragh McLoughney’s Anarchy: Seek and Destroy and Alan Nolan’s Dubcity Comics: At Hells Gate. So what ever did happen to the Comic Cast? Nothing, you silly billy. We’re right here!

Wrong: An interview with the Eclectic Micks

March 16, 2009

eclecticlogo2_copy

This week the Comic Cast is delighted (and slighty aroused) to be talking to not one, but SIX of Ireland’s top comic artists. Seated at the table are Stephen Mooney (Angel; After the Fall), Stephen Thompson (Star Trek; New Frontier, Presidential Material: John McCain), Nick Roche (Transformers, Doctor Who), Will Sliney (Farscape), Bob Byrne (Mr. Amperduke, 2000AD) and Declan Shalvey (Frankenstein, Hero Killers). We’re obliged to tell you that several comments are made during the podcast which you may find offensive or, if you’re anything like us, will enduce you to weep salty tears of excruciating laughter. This one’s a real gem. Enjoy!
