The Comic Cast with the Golden Claws

Billions of blue blistering barnacles! On this weeks Comic Cast we review Seth’s Palookaville #20, the first collected volume of Marvels’ Strange Tales, Straczynski/Davis’ Superman: Earth One, Brubaker/Phillips’ Incognito and we try to decode the Tintin references in Charles Burns X’ed Out. In films we discuss Adam Eilliots debut stop-motion feature Mary & Max and the big screen adaptation of Warren Ellis’ Red as well as the BFI’s DVD release of the 1961 live action film ‘Tintin and the Mystery of the Gold Fleece‘ as well as the re-release of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. With Christmas closing in fast we also give you a whole sack full of gift ideas for the nerd in your life. And ten thousand thundering typhoons if we don’t have all the latest on Spielbergs’ Tintin movie as well as a roundup of all things comicy. And relax.

OK, only about 20 mins in and already you have reviewed several books I’ve actually read….this has never happened before as I stopped reading comics ages ago. And you still have Tintin, Gondry, Moore and Story Cubes still to come…is this the best ‘cast ever? (apart from the BRENB interview!) Second half review coming soon. Craig you are a dick about Seth! Go back to your stupid Spiderman/Mary Jane high school comics!

Have you seen this Tintin trailer? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3XcIstW0TA

Haha, thanks BrenB. I like it when people review particular segments of the show. It’s very modern. Like tweeting about The Apprentice as it’s screening on TV. I have seen that Tintin Fan trailer, it’s very impressive. If you’re a Tintin fan let me reiterate my recommendation for ‘Tintin and the Mystery of the Golden Fleece’ though.

The final part of the show was as good, well done guys! Downloading the Tintin movies now, I’ll get back to you with my thoughts when I watch it. Rory’s Story Cubes is by my mate Rory. I did the original logo design for the prototype…a collectors item at this stage to say the least!

Great show as always guys – when you gonna do a kids special? Need to get my eight year old reading comics.. Not necessarily comics for kids – even just comics you guys wish or are glad you were exposed to at a young age

@Brenb I don’t approve of downloading movies. Tut tut tut.
@Eoin Thanks Eoin. We’ll do a section on comics for kids in the Christmas Special next month for sure.
