Comic Cast on the cliff by the sea
No dilly-dallying on the Comic Cast this week as we jump right into the deep end to review HO! The Morally Questionable Cartoons of Ivan Brunetti, Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction’s Immortal Fist, Geoff Johns & Scott Kolins’ Final Crisis: Rogues’ Revenge, Mark Millar’s Ultimate Comics Avengers and Fantagraphics new release Sam’s Strip: The Comic about Comics by Mort Walker & Gerry Dumas. We also speak to Mindpuss creator Ronan Kennedy about the future of his comics and band Hoovers & Sledgehammers as he prepares to depart to Australia. We review Hayao Miyazaki‘s latest film Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea as well as spilling the beans on a whole host of upcoming events including the Irish 24 Hour Comics Day. Enjoy!

Just to clear up a few points, 24 hour comics drawing is running from 13:00 on saturday until 13:00 on sunday but the workshops and everything else start from 11am on saturday hence the different times this year….not as easy to remember or say as “noon to noon” but we had to fit everything in somehow.
And there will be a publication printed just for the day, an anthology called ’24′ which is 50 pages and features 14 artists from Ireland and beyond. Sadly we can’t afford to give it away free but will be selling it below cost for 1 whole euro.

I’d like to see the subtitled version of Ponyo and not the fukin Ronald McDonald version. Can’t wait for it. Thanks for the kind words about the shameful All Rise. A PDF is an idea. I’ll talk to my people and see if we can make it happen. (Turns around in seat and calls out: ‘Mammy, can I use your scanner please’)
