So the Comic Cast is one year older but are we any wiser? Probably not, but with continued access to a microphone in a remote location in Kildare this week we review Nicholas Gurewitch’s The Perry Bible Fellowship Almanack, Neil Gaiman’s Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader? Alan Moore’s Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? Mark Schultz’s Superman and Batman vs. Aliens and Predator, Peter Milligan’s Sub-Mariner: The Depths and Greg Pak’s Magneto: Testament. Not to mention a quartet of new Irish comics including Ronan Kennedy’s What is it? David Withers’ Chaingun Chimp #1, Daragh McLoughney’s Anarchy: Seek and Destroy and Alan Nolan’s Dubcity Comics: At Hells Gate. So what ever did happen to the Comic Cast? Nothing, you silly billy. We’re right here!
Todays podcast is delayed until this Sunday (26th) due to a massive hangover from the Birthday Bash. Instead, have a gander at the Comic Cast movie trailer. Roll film!
This week the Comic Cast sits down to have a chinwag with Gar Shanley & Cathal Duggan otherwise known as the creators of the rather hilarious satirical comic - Windell: Superhero Showcase. We discuss Shandley’s earlier comics – All Rise and Fugger, Duggan’s recent return to drawing, their work together on The Living Proton for the GOAL comics anthology, their background in film and of course, the future of Windell comics!
It may be summer but the Comic Cast don’t take no holidays. We’ve spent all week reading comics and drinking sangria in the park in in order to review Fred Van Lente and Dennis Calero’s X-Men Noir, Brian Michael Bendis’ Halo: Uprising, Grant Morrison’s Final Crisis, Matt Forsythe’s ojingogo. Not to mention a veritabal feast of new Irish comics including Peter Loftus and Deirdre De Barra’s Downpour, Hilary Lawlors’ Superhilbo! #1, The Longstone Comics Anthology #2 and John Robbins’ The Monkey-Head Complaint / Inside Outsiders. We also lock heads over Terminator Salvation as well as discussing the latest comics news including BOOM! Studios new comic Die Hard: Year one with art by our very own Stephen Thompson, the triumphant return of Spiderman: Clone Saga and Spidey’s arrival on the boards of Broadway no less! So put on your shades – this one is going to be bright.
